Project Statement
by C. Enos
While living in downtown Boston I did all my shopping at the Haymarket. I had been using the SX-70 camera and looking for color subject matter. The garbage piles were fastinating to me and I would go every Saturday and photograph before the garbage trucks cleaned up. I had been photographing trash and decay for many years so this was a natural progression. When I moved to downtown Boston in the early 70's I found it necessary to find beauty in decay. I wanted a serious-non-serious book. After all...it is just a bunch of garbage.
