Critical Discussion

Surviving Weimar Look Book is an element within Frau Fiber's body of performance and production work that at once documents a project, exemplifies a larger set of artist activities, and alludes to a strong activist philosophy. In its simple and referential presentation it allows all of the issues within to be read at a stand-alone level of aesthetic appreciation or through much more complex theoretical lenses. As an educator I have shown this work to extremely diverse audiences over the past eight months and have found that readers at all levels are uniquely energized by their experiences of the piece. Whether it inspires viewers to sew, to study, to perform, or to rebel, Surviving Weimar is a well-presented call to action.
